There are books (and pieces of writing, articles, poems, etc.) that make me want to run into the street and grab the nearest person and tell them how much I love that book; this blog will be my street and you, reading it, will be that person.
On a more basic note, I’m a writer and book reviewer in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve worked in publishing for the past 20 years as a proofreader, copyeditor and editor, along with a short hitch from 1995-98 with local alterna-weekly Creative Loafing as music editor.

I really enjoy this site…rh
Sorry it’s taken me so long to get here but yes I am now enjoying what you are offering. Thanks Gina.
I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the book that the AJC reviewed in its Sunday Arts section about a week ago. I believe it takes place in Appalachia, maybe Ohio/West Virginia. I recycled my paper before I remembered to write it down. I found this site while trying to find it on line.
Thank you,
Hi there — the book is The Evening Hour, by Carter Sickels (Bloomsbury, paperback original, $15). It is set in West Virginia; the author grew up in Ohio. My review is now on this site: Crawling from the Wreckage.
We enjoy your articles in the Sunday AJC. Thanks for bringing good literature to the Atlanta community! So glad to have found your blog! Jan and Bob, Atlanta Vintage Books
Hi Jan and Bob! Thanks for reading my reviews and my blog. I love your store — need to get back out to Brookhaven soon and do some browsing again.
Gina, It’s your friend who thinks of you every day. Just wrote you and had it returned! How can I reach you?

SO GLAD to hear from you. I’ll email.
Gina, my name is Terrell Tannen and I was referred by James Taylor of WRITERS IN FOCUS. An excerpt from my memoir WHEN BLOOD IS GONE (published Nov. 1) was posted in the NEW YORKER online culture blogs and I have several interviews available online regarding the book, including Mr. Taylor’s show. I’m looking for reviews of the book, and since much of my childhood was spent in Walton County, Georgia, I think Atlanta is a great place to look. My publisher is very small, out of Virginia, and I’m trying to find exposure in a very crowded market. I will send you any materials you request. Please contact me via email. Thank you very much. Terrell
just added “reading, writing and other mysteries” to my own ongoing mystery: how to penetrate the reviewer’s glass wall for my own novel, The Quiet Room.
